Could there be millions of years between each day?
Question: Couldn’t there be millions of years between each creation day?[Gap theory]
Answer:
1) Exodus 20:8-11 correlates our week[which is 7
consecutive days] with His week. Therefore, creation week was 7 consecutive
days.
Exodus 20: 8-11:
"Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall
labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your
God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter,
nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within
your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens
and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh
day. Therefore the
LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
2) What would be happening during those millions of years anyway? After each day [beginning with the third day], God says it was “good”, so no more improvement was needed, so no more work was done on that particular aspect of creation. The only other possibility is that He and creation rested for millions of years. That would destroy the possibility of evolution and also go against God’s statement that He rested on the seventh day! [make comment on perhaps why God said “it was good” beginning with the third day—He was creating a place for Man. After the formation of land, He begins to call the Creation “good”]
3) Evolution is, by definition, wrought with competition and death and trial and error. Would such a creation be “very good”(Gen 1:31)????
