The Earth's atmosphere
Brilliantly designed to protect life below from harmful radiation

The earth is constantly being bombarded by high energy radiation in the form of gamma-rays, X-rays, and Ultraviolet rays. Too much of this radiation is harmful to living organisms. But God has designed a wonderful protective mechanism that shields life on earth from harmful radiation...

G
amma rays
Gamma rays are the most destructive of these three rays. But gamma rays
encounter Nitrogen in the atmosphere. Two nitogens bonded together make
up 78% of the earth's atmosphere. When gamma rays hit this nitrogen, it breaks
it up into two singlet Nitrogens and the gamma ray is spent. Thus, life below is protected from the harmful radiation.

X-rays
Nitrogen is unable to absorb X-rays. But two oxygen molecules bound together can!! Oxygen in this form makes up 21% of the atmosphere. So X-rays are also absorbed and life below is protected.

Ultraviolet radiation
Ultraviolet B and A rays do reach the surface of the earth, but in amounts that are generally safe for life. Too much, though, and you'll get a sunburn! Ultraviolet C rays are quite harmful and are fully absorbed by the atmosphere. Nitrogen and oxygen are unable to absorb this radiation, so God put OZONE in the atmosphere to shield life below from this type of radiation. Ozone, however is harmful to all life forms if inhaled. Fortunately, all ozone is located 12--18 miles above sea level, where no living creature is found.
If ozone were evenly distributed like Oxygen and Nitrogen, life could not exist.
Again, note the brilliance of the Creator to provide three atmospheric chemicals
to protect life here on earth.
