Ideas for Personal Evangelism
"The lifetime evangelism plan"
[Mark 4:14; Isaiah 55:11; Matthew
12:30]
1) Daily evangelism
Tract Ministry
One-a-day x 20 years = 7,300 tracts
Leave a tract with a good tip at a restaurant
Leave tracts in bathroom stalls where people like to have reading material
Leave on an occasional car window
Handout to someone sitting on a bench looking bored
Put a ract inside your envelope with bill payments
**For this ministry to be most effective, you will need a tract carrier and
small Bibles or New Testaments in your car, coat, purse, or by your front
door, so you will be ready to give them out!
Greeting card encouragement
One-a-week x 20 years = 1,040 cards
T-shirt evangelism
Consider buying clothing with Jesus' name and the gospel on it!
Personal encounters
Distribute Bibles and tracts to:
Homeless people on the street corners--buy them a meal at McDonald's, give
them some money and a tract or New Test.
Salesmen at your door
Salesmen on the phone
Children selling candy at your door--children love to get a New Testament
from you for free!!
"Christian props"
At your work station: A friend of mine, Jeff Johansen,
has several "props" that catch the eye and lead to a question which opens
the
door for
a personal
conversation--allowing you to tell them the good news!
At home: Objects in your own home can be used to start a conversation
with an unbeliever whom you might have over.
Business card with a bible verse on it
Have personalized business cards printed and hand them out with a
short message from you and a Bible verse to your friends and those you see
at the store. My friend Curt Harms has an active ministry doing this!
e-mail ministries
e-mail signatures; e-tracts, e-cards--send out the gospel message electronically!
e-mail friends with your brief testimony
Gifts:
Support a child [or children] in a third-world country [we use Compassion
International]
Subscription to "Decision Magazine" --by the Billy Graham Evangelistic
Association
Memorial Bible program through the Gideons [$5/Bible]--give a card to someone
and donate to the Gideons!
Christmas, Graduation, Birthdays: send out cards with the gospel message
in them!
At Christmas-time we distribute "A
Christmas Digest", a small booklet produced
by Campus Crusade for Christ
2) Special events
Gospel booth type events; read about our Westfield Summerfest Gospel booth!
Halloween night--tracts/Bibles. See our halloween 2003 report!
Christmas Cards--Create packets containing more than
just a Christmas card! We have included "A
Christmas Digest" and photos and a family letter [with
the gospel of course!]--be creative with your own ideas.
Astronomical events: Our friend hosted a Lunar
Eclipse party on November 8,
2003 and we provided binoculars, and telescopes and food. Use the event in
the sky as a springboard into sharing your faith in Jesus!
Independence Day: Invite friends, co-workers, neighbors over for a July 4th
celebration! We do this yearly with a special emphasis on our Founding Father's
faith and our Christian heritage. We read 2 Corinthians 3:17, "Where the Spirit
of the Lord is, there is FREEDOM!"
Operation Christmas Child--give a Christmas gift
and the gospel to a needy child somewhere in the world.
3) Evangelism-based ministries
Prison minstry
Gideons International--consider becoming a Gideon!
AWANA
Choose your own evangelism-based ministry at church to participate in!
4) Encourage,
train, and equip others to evangelize
....The multiplication
principle [Philippians 4:17]--if others evangelize more, your efforts are
multiplied!!
*Give several tracts or NT to your kids, young believers for them to distribute
*Encourage other believers to evangelize
*Support a missionary or evangelistic organization financially
Subtotal of #1, #2, #3 [excluding T-shirt ministry] is > 40,000 people evangelized
in 20 years
**Remember to pray for opportunities and effectiveness for your evangelism
