How the Eads family is planning on reaching our neighbors this Halloween:
The Eads family is fully aware of the history behind Halloween and it's origins. To many Christians, this is a stumbling stone for them and all involvement with Halloween traditions and trick or treaters is abandoned. But the Eads family sees Halloween night as a time when dozens and dozens of God's image bearers will come to our door. Many of them do not know the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. So keeping this in mind, and remembering the words of our Lord as He said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" [Matthew 19:14], we are planning our second annual "Eads Family Halloween Outreach Night". Praying for 100 children that night and good weather, here are our plans:
We'll have the garage door open with our cars parked next door to make our house more inviting. Tables will be set up with packs available. We took large ziplock bags and put in them the following items arranged by the age of the child:
0-3 years old:
A Golden Book: "The story
about Jesus", lots of candy, crayons, two gospel tracts, Capri
Sun drink
4-7 years old:
A sticker book about Noah, or Christmas, or gardens, a "God
made me special" bookmark,
lots of candy, 2 gospel tracts, stickers or sidewalk chalk, and 25
cents in change, Capri Sun drink
8-10 years old:
50 piece puzzle, eraser head, a "Jesus loves me" pencil, Psalm 23 bookmark,
lots of candy,
2 gospel tracts, and 35 cents in change, Capri Sun drink
11+ years old:
Girls get the new "Revolve" New
Testament,
Boys get a comic Bible book,
both get:
U.S. flag spiral notebook, lots of candy, "Our God is an awesome God" pencil,
2 gospel tracts, 35 cents in change, Capri Sun drink
Also available are Gideon New Testaments with
Psalms and Proverbs for anyone who wants one.
Behind the tables in our garage will be our laptop computer playing a continuous
slide show of the Halloween 2002 pictures, so the children can see what
they looked like last year if they came to our house last year.
We also plan to take pictures of every child and publish them here at www.eadshome.com for them to view.
Blessings to you from the Eads Family.
We hope you enjoy this halloween!
